How to Make Shepherd’s Pie? – Meat Recipes

Shepherd’s Pie


Beef or Mutton – 500 gm

Potatoes – 450 gm

Butter  – 30 gm

Onions – 115 gm

Refined flour  – 10 gm

Stock – 150 ml

Salt – to taste

Pepper  – a pinch

Milk –  75 ml

Tomatoes – 115 gm


Boil or roast meat, cool and mince.

Chop onions.

Melt half the fat in a pan and fry onions till pale brown.

Stir in flour, add stock gradually, stir until thick.

Blanch tomatoes, chop and add to stock.

Add remaining and meat.

Put into greased pie dish.

Boil and mashed potatoes with milk.

Spread over the meat, make a rough surface with a fork.

Dot with butter.

Bake at  190’C   (375′ F) for about 20 – 25 minutes.
