How to prepare Fish Fry (Goan)? – Viji’s Food Recipes


Ingredients:   (For 4 person)

Small fish  –    500 gms

Onions – 225 gms

Turmeric – a pinch

Dry Chillies – 5 gm

Mustard Seeds – 5gm

Cumin –  3gm

Garlic – 5 gm

Oil – 15 ml

Salt – to taste

Method:

  • Clean and wash the fish, smear with turmeric and salt.
  • Grind mustard seeds, Cumin, garlic, half the onions and chillies to a fine paste.
  • Chop remaining onions
  • Heat oil. Fry chopped onions. Add fish and fry.
  • Add ground spices and a little water.
  • Cover and simmer till fish is cooked   (about 15 – 20 minutes)

Ingredients:

Fish – 500 gms

Red Chillies – 5 gms

A pinch of turmeric

Salt to taste

Tomatoes – 225 gms

Fresh Coriander – 1/4 bunch

Cinnamon , cloves , cardamom, cumminseed – 5gms (Roast and powder)

Onions – 450 gms

Curd – 55 gms

Chilli powder – 1/ 4 tsp

A pinch mustard seed

Garlic – 2 cloves

Salt to taste

Mustard Oil – 55gms

Method:

Clean, wash and cut fish. Grind together chillies, turmeric and salt. Smear fish with ground masala: shallow fry. Chop coriander. Grind together chilli powder, turmeric, garam masala, mustard seeds and half the onion. slice remaining onions and garlic. Heat oil fry onion and garlic. Add ground masala and fry. Add sliced tomatoes and fry gently till they are cooked. Crush the tomatoes. Add well beaten curd and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes. Add fried fish. Continue simmering for another 10 to 15 min. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve.
